B?NY | #011 | soundtracks for our daily lives

Dear B?NY subscribers,

Here you have another proposal and a new playlist on our Spotify profile. This time, it destiles youth more than ever. The six discoverings are firmly shouting, expressing themselves with integrity and openness. #011 talks more than ever about daily life, which, of course, can include a million topics. The songs use the most quotidian ideas to express universal worries, how powerful is that?

Enjoy the issue!

ANNAM are an experimental duo based in Hanoi that aim to "bring a new perspective on Vietnamese culture". By unearthing indigenous instruments and sounds, they combine harmonies of the past with advanced electronic beats. The Vietnamese creative scene is thriving, and ANNAM are definitely among the ones to watch.

"Grandeza" is the opening track of the eponymous debut album by Sessa. Its first notes feel like water flowing nearby, getting closer and away from us with its own musicality. With an extraordinary mix of both his Brazilian roots and the parsimony of those who are experienced in a specific domain, the solo guitarist manages to enchant the ears of those who dare to enter his tropical minimalistic universe.

Synesthetic cinematic moments full of passion that could be categorized as lo-fi folk with some old-school influences. Her first LP, "Land of No Junction", is an oniric trip to the singer-songwriter consciousness that drifts into the hidden corners of her mind and wonders.

seeyousoon manages such a wide range of styles and genres, blending together each member's inspirational sources, that we could say the pop-rap gang is about to break out. Individual talents complement themselves and introduce R&B, some frantic rapping and a great cohesive performance. Songwriting and production speak from the heart and the rhythm mixes soul with darker beats, reminding us specifically to the wild Brockhampton's shows.

Only four singles are enough to enter Rigoberta Bandini’s musical world and get addicted to it. She rescues the 2000 disco pop base and the exact amount of drama sometimes we do not realise we needed. Smooth melancholic electronic rising bases, filled with detailed perceptions of everyday life we may easily relate to. Is there a music supervisor in the house? Choose her tracks for a party final scene in the likes of HBO’s Girls or Euphoria.

Kamal, also the unknown. As far as we know, he's a 18 year-old artist based in London, with two new addictive singles released a few months ago. His music is quickly evolving, refreshing, and blowing everybody's minds, with a base of R&B and his voice as the spotlight. Creating a captivating atmosphere which openly talks about sadness, shyness or attraction, like the first swim in summer that you don't want to give up. He is already flying high, and we are confident he will continue doing so.
